Biography
Nel van Lith and Nynke Schepers are recorded as having studied under Piet Esser. Work by Piet Esser is recorded in the collections of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Museum Henriette Polak, Museum De Lakenhal, Stichting Kunst in de Publieke Ruimte in Arnhem and Kunstmuseum Den Haag. Distinctions recorded are Prijs van de Stichting Kunstenaarsverzet.
Esser was part of the Dutch "Groep van de figuratieve abstractie" (Figurative abstraction group). He won a silver medal at the Prix de Rome in 1938, and became a professor at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam in 1947.
