How it works
Discover, bid, buy, sell
VALÉORINE is a selective international online auction marketplace and knowledge platform for manuscripts, rare books, autographs, photography and works on paper. Objects are reviewed before they are offered, and the owner normally keeps the object until it sells, then despatches it directly to the buyer once payment has been confirmed.

01
Discover
Every lot offered is catalogued by a specialist within our five fields: manuscripts, rare books, autographs, photography and works on paper. Sales are presented on the VALÉORINE platform and, where appropriate, through a selected network of international auction platforms.
02
Bid
Register, then bid in a timed online sale. The buyer's fee and any tax are shown in full before a bid is confirmed, so the total payable is never a surprise. You may also leave a confidential maximum and let the platform bid on your behalf by the smallest permitted increment.
03
Buy
When a sale closes you receive an invoice covering the hammer price, the buyer's fee, tax where applicable and shipping. Once payment has cleared, the consignor is required to despatch the lot to you directly by an approved tracked service within three business days. You follow the parcel from your account.
04
Sell
Submit an object online for review, free of charge and with no obligation. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Unless specifically arranged, you keep possession of the object throughout; VALÉORINE does not routinely warehouse submitted objects. If it is accepted and sells, the consignor fee is deducted from the hammer price and your proceeds are released once payment, despatch and the dispute window are all satisfied. You are never asked to write the catalogue entry — that is prepared for you.

Our undertakings
What you can rely on
Fees disclosed before you bid
The buyer's fee is a percentage of the hammer price plus a small fixed fee. The figures shown to you are calculated from the fee scale in force at that moment, and the scale applied to your purchase is recorded permanently against the transaction.
Tracked despatch, or no settlement
Untracked despatch is not permitted. A consignor's proceeds cannot be released until despatch has been evidenced, the dispute window has elapsed and no compliance hold is in place.
A Verified Record of the sale
Each completed transaction can be issued as a VALÉORINE Verified Record with a permanent reference. It attests to the integrity of our sale record — what was sold, when, and under which terms — rather than to the physical object itself.
Specialist review, never automatic listing
No object reaches a sale without a specialist's assessment. Artificial intelligence assists our specialists in preparing research and cataloguing; it never publishes, accepts, declines or authorises anything.
