Hubert van Ravesteyn

Illustration — Still life with fruit and vegetables, Dordrechts Museum. A Dutch painter of interiors and cattle, the son of Herman van Ravesteyn. He was born in Dordrecht in 1638 and died there between 1683 and 1691.

A pale green “Serpent’ glass vase by Whitefriars with applied moulded trailings, height 160 mm, (from the “Serpent’ vases inspired by paintings by Hubert van Ravesteyn and Claes Berchem, design by Harry Powell, 1910, design no 1217, in production from 1910 until end of 1930s. See also the ‘Glasses with Histories” series (as seen in The Studio Yearbook, 1937))
