He was born in Riceys-le-Haut. One of a family of eight children, he was initially destined for the priesthood, but studied instead at Dijon; he began his career as a restorer of pictures.

- 5.Également musicienne, celle-ci avait composé la musique de Chants Russes pour la publication desquels elle avait traité en janvier 1814 avec le compositeur et éditeur de musique Démar. Les Russes ayant déjà envahi le territoire français, à cette époque, Savary trouva la publication de fort mauvais gout et en décida l’interdiction, arguant que « Notre musique avec ces barbares doit n’être que celle des canons et des fusils. » Les Chants Russes ne parurent jamais, même après le retour des Bourbons, mais Aglaé publia, en 1814, les Adieux d’un Chinois et de son amie et Je pense à toi, avec accompagnements de piano et de harpe. Elle est morte, célibataire, le 19 mai 1850 à Paris, rue de Richelieu, n°38. Voir Archives de Paris, état civil reconstitué, V3E/D 1245.
