Vandermeersch was born in Oudenaarde and grew up in Wannegem, a village in Kruishoutem. She has three brothers: Edward, Karel, and Antoon.
Career
Career
After graduating from high school, Vandermeersch studied drama at the Herman Teirlinck Instituut in Antwerp. From 2012 to 2020, she was a member of the theater company LAZARUS (theater). She later co-wrote and directed the film The Eight Mountains, which won the Jury Prize at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. In 2025, she was named Master of the Ostend Film Festival, a title awarded annually to a Flemish film professional.
