This article rests on 43 catalogued compositions, 5 published texts, 9 issued recordings and 14 scholarly references drawn from named institutional registers. Guerra is the son of poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra. He was born in October 1961 in the northern Italian town of Santarcangelo di Romagna. After studying composition and arrangement under maestro Ettore Ballotta, he moved to Rome where he began his career composing music for nature documentaries. In succeeding years, he wrote several film scores for directors such as Ferzan Özpetek, Roberto Faenza, Giuseppe Bertolucci, and others. In 2015, he made his debut in Bollywood by composing the film score of the Dum Laga Ke Haisha. In 2016, he composed the background score for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Fan.

Works documented in more than one form
5 titles are catalogued under more than one form, which is to say the registers hold them both as a work and as a distinct object, score, recording or edition. Where a title is documented in several forms the evidence behind it is correspondingly wider, and the article treats those forms as separate records of the same work rather than as separate works. The Beauty and the Beast — catalogued as miniseries, television series and television film broadcast in two parts. Le mille e una notte - Aladino e Sherazade — catalogued as miniseries and television series.

Atelier Fontana - Le sorelle della moda

Recordings and discography
The discography assembled here shows how Guerra's work has been published in sound, not what Guerra made. 9 sound issues are catalogued, carrying dates from 2001 to 2020. An issue is a published recording, distinct from the composition it carries, from a printed score of that composition and from any single performance of it; none of the entries below is counted in the catalogue of compositions above, and several of them carry the same work in different readings. The 2000s are the densest decade of publication, with 4 issues. The performers and issuing labels are as the discographic register states them; where it names no performer the article names none.
