Biography
He was a member of the Paris Geographical Society and the American Geographical Society. He made a map of the Andes. Hout was killed in battle on April 28, 1915.

Le Pôle Sud est désigné comme la cible principale des expéditions par la Conférence internationale de Géographie qui se tient en 1895. Sa conquête reste encore à réaliser en 1909, malgré de nombreuses tentatives.
