Stéphane Frédéric Hessel (born Stefan Friedrich Kaspar Hessel; 20 October 1917 – 26 February 2013) was a French diplomat, ambassador, writer, concentration camp survivor, Resistance member and BCRA agent. He became an observer of the editing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948. In 2011 he was named by Foreign Policy magazine in its list of top global thinkers.

Stéphane Hessel (1917–2013) was a French and German diplomat, French resistance fighter and poet, among other activities. Born Stefan Friedrich Kaspar Hessel in Berlin, the diplomat died in 14th arrondissement of Paris.

Stéphane Hessel studied at École alsacienne, École Libre des Sciences Politiques and École Normale Supérieure, among others. The diplomat worked for United Nations and was a member of French Jewish Union for Peace and Jean Moulin Club. Stéphane Hessel worked in Paris.
