Tableau exposé sous le titre Adieux de Gabrielle d'Estrées et de Henri IV au Salon de 1842 (no 1139) avec la description suivante: "Le roi vient d'accompagner Gabrielle jusqu'à la barque qui doit la conduire de Melun à Paris, où elle se rend pour y faire ses dévotions. / Ce fut peu de jours après qu'elle mourut empoisonnée, sans avoir revu le roi."
