Vincenzo Di Chiara
Non si conosce della sua formazione musicale, ma probabilmente che, come molti altri autori di canzoni napoletane del suo tempo, dopo una sommaria preparazione teorica, abbia proseguito gli studi da autodidatta, maturando la sua esperienza di compositore negli ambienti musicali della sua città.

Biografia
Da giovanissimo fu attratto dal mondo del café chantant, dove venne a contatto con un ambiente frequentato da poeti, musicisti ed editori di canzoni. Intorno al 1890 iniziò a comporre e nel 1892 iniziò la collaborazione con la casa editrice Bideri, pubblicando la canzone in dialetto napoletano.
Nello stesso anno conobbe il poeta Giovanni Capurro e, sui versi del quale, pubblicò le prime canzoni. Nel 1894 iniziò a pubblicare presso Edizioni musicali Santojanni.
I suoi luoghi d'incontro e di lavoro furono il Gran Circo delle varietà e il prestigioso Salone Margherita dove si incontravano i più famosi della Napoli fin de siècle.
La canzone più conosciuta è La spagnola.
