Lewis R. Foster
Lewis Ransom Foster (August 5, 1898 – June 10, 1974) was an American screenwriter, film/television director, and film/television producer. He directed and wrote over one hundred films and television series between 1926 and 1960.

Dorothy Wilson and fiance Lewis R. Foster stand smiling side by side as they are poised at the counter with their license and a pen. On February 29, 1936, the pair applied for a marriage license, but claimed that they had been engaged since last Christmas and that Miss Wilson had not proposed marriage the previous day, as is a common tradition for women to perform on the rare date.
