Biography
Strayer attended Carnegie Tech and then the Pennsylvania Military Academy. After graduating, he served in the Navy during World War I and after the war found work at Metro Studios, which would later become MGM. While there, he worked as an assistant director and also acted in a number of films. During the 1920s, he moved to Columbia Pictures and became a successful writer, director and producer.
