Delgado was born in Arrecife, Lanzarote in 1965. He has won the Goya Award for Best Costume Design twice: for Snow White and for Witching & Bitching, and has received Goya nominations for La comunidad, The Last Circus, The Skin I Live In, and Abracadabra. He earned nominations for the Academy Awards in the category of Best Costume Design twice: at the 85th Academy Awards for the film Les Misérables, and at the 88th Academy Awards for the film The Danish Girl.
