The Armenian Navy Band combined traditional instruments, such as the duduk, zurna, kemanche, and kanun, with Western brass, keyboards, and percussion. The group recorded its debut album, Bzdik Zinvor, in Yerevan in 1999, which was followed by New Apricot and Türkçe Sözlü Hafif Anadolu Müziği, both recorded in 2001. The BBC recorded the ensemble's international standing when nominating the Armenian Navy Band for Best Band of Europe at the 2006 BBC World Music Awards.
